THE STORY:Dia never dreamed that someday she’d be on the run with her gang affiliated cousins. In fact, Dia never thought she’d be anywhere else aside from California. Born and raised in Los Angeles, she loved the city so much she never had any aspirations to leave it. Like her cousin’s, Dia grew up in a single parent household with her father who also happened to be Zach, Adam, and Henry’s dad’s brother. As children the three often spent summers together but once they all got older and started to go their separate ways, their only contact was a text message every now and again. Despite most other people who populated the Inferno Cartel, Dia never had anything too bad in her life. She never knew her mom, never really wanted to. The woman left when Dia was two and from a child on she figured if her mom didn’t want anything to do with her, then she didn’t want anything to do with her mom. She went to school, got good grades, never did anything too rebellious or out of the norm. Dia remembers when they got the phone call that her uncle died, she would have never imagined it would have effected her life so much. While her dad was obviously hurt, Dia too mourned but it wasn’t too much of a shock to her. Her uncle was a police officer and she knew he risked his life everyday, he died a hero and she appreciated that. Dia returned her focuses back on college and eventually wanting to go to UCLA. If she knew what was bound to happen, she would have left California and gotten away as fast as she could.
After graduation, her plans fell right into place. Dia’s dreams of going to UCLA were coming true and she was the standard amount of excited and nervous to start her life and gain the independence she always wanted. It was only four months into her college career that everything went to hell so fast, looking back on it now it seems like a blur. A party was being held by a fraternity one fall Saturday night and Dia went with a group of her friends. It was a normal college party, alcohol, drugs, sex. Truthfully, Dia didn’t even want to go that night but her friends convinced her. It was only three drinks that she recalls that night. Three. Maybe even two and a half beers that were probably more foam than alcohol. Either way, the last thing she recalled was trying to tell a friend she felt sick. The next thing she knew, she was waking up on a couch completely naked. The niece of a police officer and a daughter of a doctor, it wasn’t rocket science. She knew from the moment she had woke up that she had been raped. Grabbing a blanket, Dia went straight to the school’s clinic, called her dad, and went to the hospital for a rape kit. Knowing she was right without any confirmation, it was when she heard a doctor tell her dad the results and saw him throw a clipboard across the hallway that she finally broke down. Dia lost her virginity unwillingly, she had been drugged and raped by an absolute stranger.
Refusing to ever go back to UCLA, her dad was the one to get all her things for her while Dia stayed cocooned in her bed at home. It felt embarrassing that she even let it happen and she hated herself for feeling that way. It was only forty eight hours later that Zach, Adam, and Henry were busting down her bedroom door demanding for a name or any kind of description of the guy. She kept swearing up and down she couldn’t give them any details and finally the boys left, but not without promising her they’d make it right. Five days after their visit, Dia received a phone call from Adam telling her he was coming to pick her up. Dia disagreed immediately and hung up on him, only for him to come into her bedroom and carry her out into the car despite her fighting back. They pulled up to a large warehouse that appeared abandoned, he helped her out of the car without a word and took her into the building. It was dark but light enough to make out faces, she could see Zach and Henry facing someone tied to a chair. Someone she hadn’t recognized and probably wouldn’t be able to anyway because his face was already swollen and covered in blood. Dia was so taken back, she didn’t connect at that time that her cousins were gang leaders. Several men stood in the background with their arms crossed and emotionless faces. Confused, Dia didn’t understand but before she could open her mouth, Zach pulled a handgun from his side, cocked it, and handed it to her. “This is him.” Was all he said and Dia realized what they were asking her to do. If it had been before what had happened, she’d call the cops. She’d tell them what they were doing was wrong. But Dia had changed and in one swift motion she held the gun to the stranger’s head and pulled the trigger.
There was no asking Dia if she wanted into the Inferno after that, she met her grandfather and the rest became history. If it was a King run business she was to be apart of it - no questions asked. Her father thinks she’s studying in London, but in fact Dia got her wish of staying in California and stood shoulder to shoulder with her cousins. When the take down happened, Dia was the one who was constantly fighting back. She couldn’t believe the employees that they had been so kind to turned their backs on them. When Zach told her himself, Adam, and Henry were leaving Los Angeles she never thought of it any other way, she was to follow. They went to London (ironically) for a little while and it gave Dia the opportunity to actually talk to her father about her life. She knew from the depths of her soul if he found out what they were doing, he wouldn’t want a thing to do with her. It was against what they stood for, it was against what her uncle stood for. But it was the cruel reality of the world they were living in and for Dia, she felt like a superhero. They were doing real justice. Drugs was just a part of it, they also took out the evil doers of the Los Angeles streets. Eventually, the small group of what was left of the Kings followers went to Florida to meet up with their grandfather, Jerry King. Jerry helped devise a plan but died before much more could be mapped out and every step of the way, Dia agreed with Zach completely. Los Angeles was their home, the Inferno Cartel was their kingdom. There was no reason for it to be stolen from under their noses and this time will be like the many others Dia has held a gun at someone, there will be no remorse because the receiver of the bullet will have damn well deserved it.
